Lago di Braies is a spectacular setting, but weddings here require a little advance planning. Most couples choose a small symbolic ceremony or exchange personal vows beside the lake, completing the legal part of their marriage separately.
If you would like a legally recognised civil ceremony, contact the Civil Status Office at the Comune di Braies before making any arrangements. Civil marriages for non-residents are currently available on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9:00 and 11:00, with a municipal fee of €300 during office hours. The municipality should also confirm which locations are officially authorised for the ceremony.

The lake is at its quietest in the early morning, when the light is softer and there are fewer visitors. Sunrise is particularly beautiful for photographs and gives the day a much more intimate atmosphere.

Between 1 July and 15 September 2026, access to the Braies Valley is restricted from 9:00 until 16:00. During these hours, visitors need to arrive by public transport, on foot or by bicycle, or have an online parking reservation or valid transit permit. Any ceremony setup, boat hire or use of the historic boathouse should be discussed directly with the relevant venue or operator. A standard boat reservation may not include permission for a wedding ceremony or styled photography session.
