Travelling is such an important part of what I do. For many reasons. It keeps me motivated, hungry, gives me another perspective and time to reflect on many things. I can not imagine working at the same venue all the time, I believe that being a wedding photographer is such an important profession, that once it becomes 9-5 job, it’s time to move on. That’s why I very rarely come back to the same location more than once in a year. In the last 12 months I’ve literally travelled around the world to photograph weddings. New Zealand, Jamaica, Canada, Sweden, Italy etc…it’s been a crazy year. When Ashley and Marco started to look for Salina wedding photographer and got in touch with me, I’ve never even heard about this small, amazing island. To say I was excited would be an understatement. To say I was blown away, by both the beauty of the island and the hospitality at the Hotel Principe di Salina, where they got married, would be another one. Still, it’s not about the place. I will remember Ashley and Marco’s wedding as one of the most amazing days I have ever photographed, not because of the location, but thanks to the people who were there. It’s their friends and family who made it amazing, and boy, was it a crazy party.
Needles to say then I’m looking forward to the future travels, but I also can’t wait to shoot the weddings round the corner from my house in Scotland. Exploring some far corners of the world is amazing, but so is sleeping in my own bed. Perfect ratio seems to be the key :-)
